Don Hamilton is a photographer and filmmaker based in Spokane, Washington since 1980. His base of operations is the Hamilton Studio, an Art Deco brick gymnasium that he bought from the Catholic Diocese in 1985. It features a 30’ x 30’ hard corner cyc at one end of the basketball court and a proscenium arch stage at the other end.

The space has been treated acoustically so that it is a serviceable soundstage.

Like everybody else on earth, the team at Hamilton has evolved through the present plague, quickly perfecting the strange art of Covid safe, live-stream fundraisers. Last year the team helped local non profits, including The Spokane Symphony, Vanessa Behan, The Spokane River Keeper, The Spokane Public Schools Foundation, and the YWCA raise over a million dollars online.

Earlier this year, Hamilton co-produced a series of 5 feature length motion pictures with the Spokane Symphony called Overtones. This series was more than just a live stream of a concert sans audience. It is a ground breaking performance and documentary series that puts the audience onstage with the symphony through high fidelity audio and the imagery from 15 cameras, including 2 that flew on cables above the musicians.

In April, Hamilton produced and served as DP on a feature film, A Good Enough Day, that was shot in just 8 1/2 days in Spokane and is presently edited and being entered in festivals as of this writing.
