Maria Gargiulo
An Emmy award winning producer/director, Maria Gargiulo’s work has appeared on PBS, the Discovery Channel, Fox, CBS and film festivals around the world. In her first job out of film school, she was a commercial producer working with national clients (e.g. Chrysler, P&G). She left that lucrative gig to make historical and social issue documentaries both for broadcast and NGO clients, shooting in Asia and Africa.
Pivoting to the Indy world of dramatic narrative, she directed films such as The Collectors (Best Television Drama at the ITVFest) and Got 2 Come Up: A Day in the Life of a Young Man, (Best Dramatic Short/Black Programming Consortium). Gargiulo is a graduate of the American Film Institute and Stanford University where she was one of the first recipients of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship.
She recently re-established and revamped a One-year film program within the University of Washington’s School of Professional Education and is seeking scholarship funds for women of color who have been under-represented within the industry. Maria is a member of Women in Film Seattle and the Seattle Film Task Force.
