Melissa Tumas

Melissa Tumas is an advocate, educator and documentary filmmaker.  She has spent two decades supporting survivors of sexual assault and relationship violence and educating students and community members about public health issues. Visual storytelling has always been an important part of her work in education and that experience informs her documentary filmmaking. Currently, she consults in sexual violence education and freelances as a producer, cinematographer and editor for non-fiction videos. She partners with people, nonprofits, and small businesses to lift up the stories of how they are making a difference in their communities. She is on the board of the Seattle Documentary Association and completed her first short documentary, “One Fall”, last year on the independent professional wrestling scene in D.C.
