Will Hall

Will Hall was first elected to the Shoreline City Council in 2009. He has served as Mayor for the last four years.

He grew up in Renton and attended Hazen High School. He went to the University of Chicago and Johns Hopkins University to study things about as far from the creative arts as possible – physics and mathematics – then came back to the University of Washington to study environmental policy. He loves and appreciates film, and knows that art is the heart of the community.

On behalf of the Shoreline Film Office and in partnership with the Seattle Film Summit, Mayor Hall was honored to present the best screenplay award at Hollyshorts 2019 to “Desmond’s Not Here Anymore” by Lindiwe Suttle Mueller-Westernhagen. And despite having no prior acting experience, he somehow walked on as an extra when it was filmed nearby this summer.

His professional experience includes environmental planning, public policy, teaching, owning a small business, and running a utility. He was appointed by Governor Inslee to the Orca Task Force and to the Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council to continue his lifelong passion: protecting the beautiful natural resources of the Pacific Northwest.

Mayor Hall and his wife Laurie have lived in Shoreline for over twenty years. They enjoy music, theater, hiking, skiing, scuba diving, and watching and playing sports.
