Christopher Lockhart
Christopher Lockhart is THE Story Editor at William Morris Endeavor (WME), the world’s largest talent agency. As an executive, filmmaker, and educator with over 30 years of industry experience, A-list actors go to Chris to vet scripts.
Chris curates projects for A-list actors like Denzel Washington, scouring through piles of screenplays, magazines, books, old movies, TV shows and pitches for potential film projects. He’s read over 60,000 screenplays in the course of his career.
He got his start at International Creative Management (ICM) as a script consultant to legendary agent Ed Limato, who represented Mel Gibson, Richard Gere, Michelle Pfeiffer, Liam Neeson and Robert Downey, Jr. Chris later moved to the William Morris Agency (now WME).
Chris branched into producing with horror hit The Collector and its sequel, The Collection, which opened in the top 10 American box-office. He wrote and produced the award-winning documentary Most Valuable Players, which was acquired by Oprah Winfrey for her network.
Chris's creative counsel has been used on many films, such as The Birth of a Nation, the Sundance Film Festival sensation that sold for a record-breaking $17.5 million and won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award. He's now consulting on Dreamland, starring Oscar winner Gary Oldman.
As an educator, Chris lectures around the world on the craft and business of screenwriting. He is an adjunct professor at National University's Professional Screenwriting Program and taught at UCLA. His writing workshop, The Inside Pitch, was filmed and earned him an Emmy Award nomination.
Chris graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with an MFA in dramatic writing and was awarded the school's Public Service Prize for his dedication to public education. He is a member of the Writers Guild, the Producers Guild and the Television Academy.
He lives in Beverly Hills, CA and has a 12-year-old son. (Oh, the stories he has about his son! Note: Don’t get into trouble if you’re the kid of a professional storyteller.)
Check out his Facebook group The Inside Pitch, where he offers daily advice on the Hollywood script maze to 11,000+ creatives, and meet him at the 2020 SFS.
